Lossiemouth

Melanie, Phil and I went out from Lossie to calibrate the electronic compass unit for the sat-nav. We sailed in several circles till I read the instructions. Then all went well. We used the transit of Covesea Skerries and the Covesea light as our known bearing. We moored for a while in the river Lossie and Phil took photographs.

Sufiana was ready to go..

Crew for the trip south were John Divall, Arthur Thomson, Alan and me.

We were ready to go by about 1700 on Saturday May 2 but the weather forecast was for a bit of wind so we put off departure till 1000 on Sunday and went to the German Night at the Royal Findhorn Yacht Club.

Go right, go left, go forward, go back, stand up, sit down : we filled our skins with beer and swapped a sweat shirt for Kim’s blouse and left her wearing my jacket and hat. By the end of the evening we were ready for a rest not a windy sail.

The Leaving of Lossiemouth

Melanie and Heather came to see us off along with Phil and some others. After our goodbyes we set off and ran aground. We threw a rope to those on shore and they pulled Sufiana off. An ignominious start. As we left Phil passed down my cameras and we looked out through the entrance. There were a few rather large waves and the engine laboured going uphill on some of them.
