We arrived in Dijon in the early afternoon of Friday and the rest of the crew started to turn up. We inflated the dinghy. Pierre and Vincent went off for a paddle coming back with 11 fishing lures from the trees. Flying ants started to land on Sufiana. We caught them by dozens and the fishing started. By 1900 all the crew was present and some shopping was done.
10 litres of Syrah wine was started. The Cypriot owner of Rossignol of York and his two crew joined us with a bottle of wine to swap for our Greek flag and they joined the party. Then a yank at the university on a two weeks French course. By 2100 we were down to the crew and the yank and 40 fishes that had been caught were served up for starters. The wine flowed freely and eventually we retired to bed at 00130.
In the morning the starter failed again, as did my attempt to rewire it. Jean-Noel took it apart again and headed for a Citroen dealer to get new brushes and some soldering done. We were ready to go at 1000 but a barge appeared and we had to wait. As the locks were close together we sent a couple of runners ahead to work the next lock and progressed well.
