Pam lost her camera by the N of Sufiana in 4m of water returning from a heavy session of conviviality. The next morning I dropped in a seasearcher magnet and pulled up the camera with its strap wrapped round the magnet. Thor was on our side.
Mon 14th July we set off for Karmoy. Petter Haavig stole Suzy and Ian to crew Catalina to Kopervik so Pam and I took Sufiana in company with Edelweiss and Hang About
17 July. I visited Magna the accordion and told him he must visit Findhorn giving him my chart 223 and Cruising Association handbook. Then we set off for Austeroy about 5 miles inland. When we got there we decided it was too crowded so we went back 2 miles to Faaroy. Here the only visible inhabitants were goats and a snake though there were deer droppings on the hillside. Peace and tranquillity till Pam put on the music. We had a great BBQ and lit a large driftwood fire. A fine evening ended with Gaelic coffee.
In the morning Pam Suzy and I set off to explore the island and Ian, on the boat with nothing to do, called Petter Haavig on Catalina. His arrival ended our explorations as he led us to a more sheltered cove at Muslands Vaag. Norwegian coastal navigation depends almost entirely on the eye with a little assistance from log and compass, as distances between islands are usually less than a mile. Rocks are marked with numbers which appear on the charts.
Petter led us inland to a sheltered bay where we anchored by the stern and took lines ashore. We decided to spend the night and then go to an island further South in the morning. We set up our BBQ and cooked chicken and tatties wrapped in foil. Wearing my new non slip shoes I danced about the rocks without putting a foot wrong until returning to the boat I slipped, sat down in the water, and soaked my breeks. It caused much hilarity. We invited Petter and Unni for drinks in Sufiana and had a great party till all the bottles were empty and all were tired as newts again.
19 July Some friends of Petter's arrived in the morning so we stayed for another night leaving for Lossiemouth on Sunday. We spent the day messing about and doing some small repairs to the boat. In the evening we had another BBQ -not so successful this time - and tidied the interior for the return trip
